Planning of a 3D implant procedure

Dental implant procedure starts from digital panoramic and 3D X-ray images, which helps to assess the quantity and condition of the patient’s jawbone. By analysing the digital X-ray, the peculiarities of jaws, the remaining teeth and surrounding anatomical structures are determined. Before planning the implant surgery, the condition of patient’s teeth, gum, and general oral hygiene is also assessed. When results of evaluation are obtained, planning of the implant surgery procedure starts. Implant surgery is planned using the 3D image.

Before starting the treatment, the implants are accurately selected under a surgical program, their location and direction is determined. Based on these planning data, the precise surgical guide is prepared, according to which the planned surgery is carried out quickly and comfortably and with minimal damage. The doctor having regard to the patient’s needs and the condition of the mouth and teeth determines the required number of dental implants, their location and the method of implant prosthetics. One of the most important factors in determining the success of treatment with implants is the position of dental implants, which doctor choses by taking into account the location of the future prosthesis. Quite often, the amount of bone in locations where implants are to be drilled is insufficient. In this case, the bone augmentation (extension) surgery is included in the treatment plan. The individual treatment plan is drawn up and agreed with the patient.

Dental Implants

Dental Implants is one of the most advanced treatment, the application of which can restore the lost teeth especially aesthetically. Dental implant procedure is as follows:

– a doctor examines the patient, takes X-ray images, evaluates the patient’s condition and determine whether it is possible to perform the dental implant surgery procedure;

– a doctor prepares an individual treatment plan, which specifies how many implants will be drilled, what restoration method will be applied and the cost of services is determined. If the patient’s teeth bone is destroyed, before the implant surgery procedure, the bone augmentation surgery procedure or sinus lifting procedure is performed. If the amount of bone is sufficient to ensure the stability of the original implant, then these procedures are performed in conjunction with the drilling procedure of the implant;

– local anaesthesia is applied during the implant surgery procedure when the implant is drilled by lifting up the gums,

– when the implant is drilled, the gums are sewn up;

– the seams are removed after 1-2 weeks;

– after a healing period (4-5 months), a gum-forming cap is screwed;

– when the gums are completely healed, the gum-forming cap is replaced by the prosthetic support;

– the dental implant surgery begins.

Why to choose dental implant prosthesis?

Dental implants allow full restoration of non-existing teeth without prejudice to existing teeth.

Properly cared implants are very durable.

Unlike the conventional prosthetics surgery, during the implant surgery procedure not only the tooth but also the roots are restored.

Dental implants are very close to the natural teeth as part of masticatory pressure they transmit to jaw and thus reduces bone loss.

Dental Implants is the best solution to avoid removable denture.

A good result is achieved by dental surgery, as crowns are very aesthetic and does not differ from natural teeth.

Dental implants can be used in conjunction with crowns, bridges, removable dentures, thereby restoring the chewing efficiency and maximum aesthetics.
When dental implants are fully naturalized, prosthetics works can be started. Our Clinic offers several implant techniques:

Dental implant with a crown is a used when one tooth is missing. A crown is produced in the lab according to the tooth prints, which is attached to the implant.

Prosthetics with dental bridge is used if the patient lacks several adjacent teeth. In such cases, at least two implants are required to fix the dental bridge.

Removable or fixed dentures are used when the patient does not have any teeth. If it is decided to use fixed dentures, usually six implants are required for the dental restoration. When removable dentures are chosen, the number of required implants is less. The exact number of implants required determines the oral and maxillofacial surgeon who will perform the dental implant surgery.

Is a dental implant surgery procedure painful?

This is one of the most frequent questions asked by the patients before the implant surgery procedure. The answer to this question is unequivocal – no, because local anaesthesia is applied during this surgery. Therefore, at the time of implant surgery the mouth is completely numb to pain until the surgeon drills all necessary implants in the jaws. In order to avoid any discomfort or pain that can be felt after the surgery, the surgeon will prescribe antibiotics and recommend when to take them. The pain may be felt in the place where the implant was drilled or in the area of the jaw. After the dental implant procedure, the following side effects may occur: bleeding, bruising or swelling. However, all these effects usually disappear within a week or ten days, for each patient individually.

How to maintain the implants?

It is strictly forbidden to clean the implant with pins, paper clips and other hard or metal objects.

Use a soft toothbrush for daily care. It is recommended to clean separate implants with a toothbrush. Electric toothbrushes are particularly suitable for the implant care.

Remember to use interdental brushes. Use them once or twice a day for cleaning of hardly accessible interdental spaces. To protect the abutments, we recommend using brushes the metal wire of which is covered with a layer of nylon.

Use dental floss or tape for cleaning spaces between implants.

If there are hard-to-clean spaces, regularly use antiseptic mouth rinse containing chlorhexidine gluconate.

In addition, we recommend to perform the professional oral hygiene at least every six months and to visit a dentist for preventive purposes.
